1. Going to the Official Website

To avoid scams or third-party markups, always use the official SRT online booking platform:

https://dticket.railway.co.th

The website works best on desktop, but it is also accessible via mobile browser.

Note that, the website might initially show content in Thai language. But you can easily change language setting to English as shown in the attached image below.

From the homepage, you can search trains for different destinations. From the capital city Bangkok, there are three different rail stations : Krung Thep Aphiwat, Hua Lamphong and Thon Buri. You need to search trains by station names. If you are new to Thailand and don't know much about train station names, you can find train routes along with station names from Rail Thailand's route by city page.

2. How to Create an Account

You can search trains without any account. But before booking, you need to register an account. Click on the register button and fill up the register form. If you are a foreigner, remember to toggle the foreigner button. This will allow you to fill up the passport code. If you have Thailand mobile number, you can put it (optional). To complete the registration, you will be sent OTP code on this mobile number. If you do not have Thai mobile number, you can still get the OTP via email. Be careful when filling up the email and mobile (optional) field. These fields can not be changed once created.

Alternatively, you can also see the full train schedule list from RailThailand.com website

After you have decided which train suits most of your need, you can hit the choose button for choosing your sit.

Understanding Seat Classes

SRT trains usually offer:

  • 1st Class Sleeper (Air-conditioned) – Private cabin (best comfort)
  • 2nd Class Sleeper (AC or Fan) – Most popular for long trips
  • 2nd Class Seat (AC or Fan) – Budget option
  • 3rd Class – Cheapest, no air-conditioning

For overnight routes like Bangkok to Chiang Mai, 2nd class sleeper AC is highly recommended.

4. How to Book and Make Payment

After selecting your preferred train:

  1. Choose seat or berth (if available).
  2. Enter passenger details (auto filled).
  3. Review fare and booking summary.
  4. Proceed to payment.

In the attached image below, this is how the seat choosing page looks like. You can choose any available seats you want. This page also show's the gender of other booked seats. This might help you choosing seat based on your preference.

Also note that, you may buy up to 4 tickets in one transaction. So, if you are visiting alone or with family / friends, Thai Railways allow you to buy tickets for them as well.
